American Red Cross for Local Disaster Relief

(May 25, 2010) - Edmonton State Bank announced today that it has donated $25,000 to the American Red Cross of South Central Kentucky and Barren County to assist with local disaster relief in Allen, Barren, Metcalfe, Monroe and Warren counties.  Five thousand dollars will be allotted to each of the five county’s disaster relief efforts as a result of the floods that devastated many areas throughout the region earlier this month.

“We have customers and fellow community members who have suffered great loss from the flooding,” said Brandon Jones, marketing director for Edmonton State Bank. “A disaster like this is very difficult for families and businesses. And, we hope our fellow businesses community members will follow our lead and help disaster relief efforts in their communities by supporting the American Red Cross.”

“The past few weeks have been very taxing on our resources, and this timely donation is greatly appreciated,” stated Jennifer Capps, executive director of the American Red Cross South Central Kentucky Chapter. “The donation helps meet the immediate emergency needs of individuals affected and will assist them in getting back on their feet sooner.”

Any funds that are not exhausted for flood relief efforts will stay in the counties to which they were donated. The funds will be set aside for future disaster relief assistance. Community members can also make donations to the American Red Cross at any Edmonton State Bank location.  All donations made to the American Red Cross at Edmonton State Bank branches will be directed to cover expenses funded by the National Disaster Relief Fund in those respective counties.  For more information about disaster relief efforts, contact the American Red Cross South Central KY Chapter at 270-781-7377 or the American Red Cross Barren County Chapter at 270-659-2050.
