WHAT IS THE WELCOME HOME GRANT?
The Welcome Home Grant is a federally funded assistance program through the Federal Home Loan Bank of Cincinnati. It provides up to $20,000 in grant funds, applied directly to your down payment and closing costs at the time of purchase. This is not a loan. When you follow the program guidelines, you never need to repay these funds.
WHO QUALIFIES?
You don't have to be a first-time homebuyer. You may be eligible if:
- Your household income falls within your county's income limits
- You're purchasing a primary residence
- You qualify for a mortgage on your own merit
- You can contribute at least $500 toward the purchase
First-time buyers must complete an approved homebuyer education course before closing.
ELIGIBLE PROPERTIES
- Single-family homes
- Townhomes and condos
- Duplexes and multi-unit homes (up to four units)
- Qualifying manufactured homes
The home must be your primary residence, and a five-year retention period applies.
2026 PROGRAM OPENS APRIL 6
Funds become available Monday, April 6, at 8:00 a.m. ET, and they're awarded on a first-come, first-served basis until they're gone.This program runs out of money every year. The buyers who secure funding are the ones who are already prepared when the window opens.
